Utah Sacred Harp

Join Us To Sing Traditional American Folk Hymns

from The Sacred Harp and Other Shape Note Tunebooks

Sacred Harp singing (also called shape note singing or fasola singing) is a non-denominational, community musical event emphasizing participation, not performance. We sing from The Sacred Harp, and other shape note tunebooks featuring four-part, a cappella psalm tunes, fuging tunes, odes and anthems written by early American composers (1770-1810); settings of folk songs and revival hymns (circa 1810-1860); as well as songs in these styles written by living composers.

Everyone is welcome!

No experience or membership is required.

Books will be available to borrow or buy.

Please visit the singing schedule or our facebook group for the most current information about singing dates and venues.

COVID-19 Precautions

Vaccinated singers are invited to singings in Salt Lake City. We also request that singers take a rapid COVID test before a singing, if possible. If you or a close contact are ill, regardless of test result, please do not attend.

Thank you for helping to keep our community safe!
